What is Prism14?

Prism14 consults on and realizes sustainability and resilience transformation, by listening and seeing deeply, optioning exhaustively, and creating near-term benefits along with lasting impacts for stakeholders.

We’re people-centering strategists who apply and share our craft, with an awareness of relationship, a library of lenses, and a range of approaches to doing as well as being — we never let ourselves lose sight and contact with empathy, embodiment, and emotion as central to living.

Prism14’s 14 Lists for ’23

1. 14 Elements
   Let’s talk some essential pieces of the entrepreneurial puzzle, personal effectiveness, and our resources, universal as well as local. The 8 playgrounds of preparedness we get into include awareness of customer and market, product development and brand promise, growth and distribution strategy, production and supply chain, engagement and experience strategy and design, regulatory and common good, finance accounting and reporting, and quality and improvement.

That’s a lot, so to keep perspective, we highlight 3 strategic impacts and 3 resources, no matter where we find ourselves, provided an interface to the 8 playgrounds of preparedness.

2. 14 Patterns
   When one starts to study the relationship of things to one another, one starts to see arrangements and configurations that arise, again and again. Patterns give us a language to talk about commonly recurring ways things connect, in other words, structures and their functions.
3. 14 Mindsets & Attitudes
   We have access to a range of faculties of seeing, sensing, processing information, as well as storing, recalling, and comparing memories. Often, we find ourselves in settings in which we may understand there to be more beneficial ways of receiving or performing in a given context. What one can adjust through awareness and various practices is an increasing appreciation for where our minds are at and what attitude we bring to particular moments.

   There is trend in the meaning that topics trend on social media, and there are the long arcs of history. If one looks, one may see a constellation of indicators reflecting shifts in new directions, or we may see existing populations of data points start to bifurcate or even dissipate.    When we say dynamics, Prism14 seeks to bring more consideration to irreconcilable oppositions, the epitome of the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. And with each entry on the Prism14 14 Dynamics, we can start to connect the dots to examples in business, life, and across human, biological, and physical systems to see how increasing our vocabulary and comfort with dynamics empowers us phenomenally.

   There are a few tips we keep close to keep things in the affirmatively optimal. We call it Prism14’s Affirmative 14 for 2022/2023.
7. Empire 14
   This is leveling with you that it’s a jungle out there, and we all need a little help, now and then, to keep us from going under, so we listed 14 critical considerations for surviving while being a sleeper agent in the midst of the Empire, think Empire Strikes Back or Andor, and you’ll get where we’re coming from on this. Look forward to bromides speaking to the advantages of learning to love bureaucracy and ways to defy physics to back-stab your way while you’re failing up, when a person’s values are as lacking as the fiefdoms they work for, own, or lead.

   This could be 3 lists easily, however this covers just enough of what’s going on to keep things relevant to scientists and engineers. There’s a lot out there, though, so this is like a jumping off point, more than an exhaustive review of technology of the year. You can find that already.

    Space is the place, for sure. We take a tour of a few of our favorite regions and biomes we’ve lived, worked, played, and rested over the recent little while.
11. 14 Spaces and Orgs (Companies too)
    Speaking of spaces, we all can appreciate the importance of spaces in the sense of places to be – or eat – or recreate – or rest; these could be businesses though aren’t always.

    For the most part, there’s an emphasis on the positive and constructive in the Prism14 14 for 2023, however there are 14 things that require being called out, and that’s the Anti 14’s place. Get your grrrr on with us.

    Never-ending learning brings so many benefits, insights, and I dare to mention joy. Studying the ways things work and spending time to think about how we do what we do while figuring out together what it means to make progress, sets the stage for the self-guided transformation of entrepreneur, team, and enterprise.
14. Deconstruct Your Biases 14
    Biases arise at a number of levels of perception and cognition, get wrapped up into models and policies, and interfere with our clearer perception of sensory information, recall of events, and accurate impressions of intent from interpretation of ambiguity. Prism14 centers sensing, cultivating options, and having strategies informed by all we know, to improve quality of life for more. One of the critical resources we’ve benefitted from has been the elucidation of our biases and better sensing of what introduces these biases, so we can better navigate with an awareness of bias and an application of systems thinking to reduce the impact of bias by creating useful strategies that are aware of bias and actively structure or build in awareness of the risks of bias, so they may be mitigated thoughtfully, with equitable policy and inclusive structures.
